Happy Mother's Day

What is a Mother?

A Mother is someone who spends sleepless nights trying to make you sleep
A Mother is someone who understands you from the very deep
A Mother is someone who will laugh and cry along with you
A Mother is someone who teaches you how to drink, eat and how to chew…

A Mother is someone who scolds you for your own good
A Mother is someone who will support you in any mood
A Mother is someone who accepts you in any situation
A Mother is someone who motivates you for your every little creation

A Mother is someone who gives you blessings at every step
A Mother is someone who is always worried for your fate
A Mother is someone who can catch you if at any moment you lie
A Mother is someone who never wants to see her baby cry

A Mother is someone who is different from all others
she is my Mother
Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelets are Done as Promised

As promised in my last post, here are the bracelets I made for my co-worker whose Mom passed away last month from breast cancer. I added her Mothers birthstone, a peridot Swarovski drop to each bracelet and inserted it next to the ribbon charm. I was fortunate to find two different toggles which had peridot Swarovski crystals embedded in the toggle. I will deliver them on Friday as promised, just in time for Mothers Day.
The bracelets are made with Bali beads from Indonesia, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver spacer beads.

It's Busy at Work

Month end, layoffs and every one wants their loan to close right now. I can hardly stand it. Can't wait for this week to be over with.
I have been busy making jewelry, now I just need to find the time to photograph them and get them into the shop.
I joined Twitter, not sure I really know what I am doing. I did print out some instructions just have to take the time to read up on them. There's just not enough hours in the day.
I have been asked to make two breast cancer awareness bracelets for a co-worker who recently lost her Mother to breast cancer last month, I will take on that project this weekend to ensure she receives them as promised. $5.00 from each bracelet sold will be donated to the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure Foundation.
I am looking forward to seeing the Royal Wedding, not that I plan on getting up at 2:00 am PST to watch it as I am sure there will be plenty of coverage on the TV when I get home from work on Friday.
Is anyone getting up to watch?

Recovering at home and making time to bead

Recovering at home from breast reconstruction revision surgery that I had on Tuesday. The surgery went well, I was in the O/R at 7:30am and was home by 12:30 pm. I am a little sore and have pain medication to take care of that. The worst part of it are the drains, they are very uncomfortable and bulky. Hopefully they will come out on Monday.
I am taking advantage of the downtime to make some more jewelry items for my Etsy shop. I managed to snag one of the jewelry showcase spots for April 19th. It's like waiting for the cat to catch the mouse in trying to get one of those spots.
My boss' daughter designed these Ked's, she draws images on them using sharpie pens. This pair has various images from the Beatles. Can you name all of the images?
I am going to ask her to design a couple of pairs with a breast cancer theme so I can donate them for auction to Susan G Komen. I think she does a fantastic job and she is such a great artist.
Here is another pair. She can do just about anything on these shoes.

Today was a GREAT day

I have been busy marketing my Etsy shop amongst my co-workers that I was asked if I could bring in some samples.  Well today I took in 4 necklaces and ended up selling 3 of them.
And, I woke up to an email that one of my necklaces, Melanie was featured in a Treasury "Think Pink"

I read a fantastic article posted on Chelsea Rainbow's blog about a fun way to buy handmade online. It is well worth the read.

Hello World

I decided it was time to get on the band wagon and start a blog for my jewelry shop. I never thought a blog was a way to market your product, but it seems this is the way to go. I had a blog on blogger when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I journaled quite frequently from the time I was diagnosed through to the end of treatment but then I just stopped journaling. I love to make beaded necklaces, earrings and most of all I began designing breast cancer awareness bracelets during my diagnoses and treatment. I would make one or two bracelets for co-workers, get asked to make more, and more. So I decided that for every breast cancer awareness bracelet I sold I would donate a portion of the sale proceeds to the Susan G Komen Race For The Cure. Last year my team in the Portland OR, RFTC was one of the top 100 teams for fund raising. So here I am.
